Cordyceps — What it is and Why it's Used

Cordyceps is a mushroom traditionally valued in Chinese and Thai practice as a tonic for endurance. This section features three capsule products: No.111 with Reishi and Ginseng, No.112 with Ginkgo Biloba, and No.100 Tang Tang Hae Chao with Ginseng. We do not offer raw mushrooms or tinctures here.

Cordyceps is a genus of fungi; in nature, they develop on insects, hence the name “winter worm – summer grass.” In East Asian tradition, it is used as a tonic for supporting vitality. Our capsules contain powdered fruiting bodies or mycelium, not dried whole mushrooms or tinctures.

Cordyceps sinensis is wild-growing Himalayan, rare, and expensive. Cordyceps militaris is cultivated on a plant substrate and forms the basis of most capsules. Please refer to the packaging for the specific Latin name.

How to Choose Cordyceps

  • No.111 — Cordyceps with Reishi mushroom (Ganoderma lucidum) and Ginseng root (Panax ginseng): a comprehensive tonic.
  • No.112 — Cordyceps with Ginkgo Biloba (Ginkgo biloba): for when focus is as important as endurance.
  • No.100 — Cordyceps with Ginseng, formulated for men.
  • Individual Ginseng root is not available here — it is only included in blends. There's no need to purchase two products at once, as Cordyceps is present in each.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Cordyceps?

A mushroom that naturally grows on insects, and for supplements, is cultivated on a grain substrate. Available as a powder in capsules, it is a dietary supplement, not a treatment for disease.

Why is Cordyceps used?

Adults traditionally use it in China and Thailand to support endurance, performance, and recovery after exertion. For persistent weakness, a medical examination should be sought before considering supplements.

How to take Cordyceps?

Follow the instructions on the packaging: typically 1–2 capsules daily with food, taken with water. Plan to take it in the first half of the day, as formulas with Ginseng can be invigorating. Complete the full course, then take a break.
