Studies of the medicine Far Talay Jone (Karyiat) have confirmed that the medicine is able to suppress the COVID-19 virus (coronavirus).
The Thai Ministry of Public Health has found the ability to suppress the virus.
On February 21, 2020, the Deputy General Director of the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine, Dr. Pramot Satirat said that the Andrographis paniculata extract can inhibit the growth of the virus in vitro.
On February 25, the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine has collaborated with the Department of Medical Sciences and the Government Pharmaceutical Organization to continue researches and studies of the effectiveness of other Thai herbs against the coronavirus.
Andrographis paniculata, herbaceous plant, height 30-70 cm. All parts are bitter. The branch is a single dark green leaf, with a bouquet of flowers. Petals are white. Usable parts: fresh leaves, dried leaves.
Main application:
- General fever, flu.
- Cough, sore throat, tonsillitis, bronchitis, abscess of the skin, can be used as an anti-inflammatory and expectorant remedy.
- Infections, intestinal dysbiosis, diarrhea, dysentery, gastritis, gastroenteritis.

Andrographolide is a labdane diterpenoid isolated from the leaves and roots of Andrographis paniculata that exhibits anti-HIV, anti-inflammatory and antineoplastic properties. It has a role as a metabolite, an anti-inflammatory drug, an anti-HIV agent and an antineoplastic agent.
